True empathy

The fact that people who have gotten screwed over by the "mental health" system are in the same boat as you, is an important thing to remember. The anger that we feel is shared. This will enable you to look fondly on those around you and understand that the plight is not unique to you alone. We probably suffered the worst atrocities imaginable in a first world country, in terms of social and physical disfigurement.

I live in a place where the neighbors are all mental health. I sometimes focus on the petty intermingling of the people around me and wonder why they treat me so unjustly. But remembering that they got screwed over too and to focus on the fact that we are all in the same boat will enable me to understand the anger and bitterness that we feel, at having been ostracized and having been (many times) force-fed medication.
